I notice it’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve posted. Nothing much has happened in that time, but I’ll share some thoughts anyway…
The New Employee
By now, I’ve gotten over the shock of him looking quite like the young man I once knew in college. I’ve discovered that besides their dark hair and eyes, there aren’t many similarities between them. My new team mate is starting to blend in like the rest of us here. And he finally laughed at one of my jokes this morning.
My dance partner’s dancing has improved. Not much. But… I will give him credit for practicing and keeping up with the flow of the music.
We (the company) rehearsed with our new Drosselmeyer last Friday night. This guy is a bit younger than our former guest artist, so he has more spring in his step. I got in his way a couple of times during rehearsal. Oops. Or, wait! Did he get in MY way? Well… whatever. I am just winging it this year anyway.
Our final in-studio rehearsal is this Saturday, with the entire company. Then, next week, we have two dress rehearsals… then there’s the holiday… and then the show.
I am wearing my lavender dress again this year in the show. I wasn’t a big fan of last year’s blue taffeta… so I have returned to the original, more flow-y one. I thought I might gussy it up with some faux purple jewels, this time, though. Not sure yet.
Went to see Santa on Sunday. We have to go early in the season or we miss it because our weekends are eaten up by dance classes and rehearsals and the shows. Anyway, Santa told my daughter, calling her by name as usual since he’s memorized us over the years, “Well… we’ve been on this journey for seven years now.” And then he told her to make sure she cleans her room. (Thanks, Santa.) She still believes in his holiday magic. As well she should!
Umm, umm, umm… anything else?
So that’s it, I guess.
