CRAFT: Painted Glass – Halloween Tree

Some time in the spring, my mom handed me a box full of old picture frames that were a little mismatched with glass in various sizes. (I have no idea where she got them.) They’ve been sitting around in a box while I’ve tried to figure out what to do with them. At some point, I painted some of the frames gold (they are all wood). But, since I haven’t put any actual pictures in them yet… I started pondering other ways to use them.

Here is one idea I came up with:

Halloween Tree

Faux Stained Glass Halloween Tree1) I plotted out my design (made it up as I went along (which, judging from the photo, probably goes without saying)) using Plaid Gallery Glass leading lines.

2) Then I colored it all in using these colors:

  • Pumpkins — Amber
  • Tree — Cocoa Brown
  • Sky — Amethyst, Morning Glory & Charcoal Gray
  • Grass — Ivy Green & Charcoal Gray
  • Moon — Sunflower & Amber

3) That’s about all there was to it… other than letting it dry, adding a long length of ribbon and hanging it up in front of a window.  << which I haven’t actually done yet, but… almost.  😉

Happy fall!

That sly, come-hither stare….
