He loves me, he loves me not. Uhh… I think.

I thought I’d take a moment to share a few “random” movie scenes and songs with you. As you will soon notice, these are all about romantic partners denying their love for one another and/or separating from each other for various reasons. This is the kind of depressing stuff I like to indulge in when writing my book.  😉

First up, a mood-setter:
Please watch and listen… before you continue reading…

Stay or Leave - Dave Matthews
I want you not to go, but you did.

EVER Henry - Ever AfterAFTER

Leonardo da Vinci: What have you done?

Henry: I was born to privilege and with that comes specific obligations….

Leonardo da Vinci: Have you any idea what she went through to get here tonight?

Henry: She lied to me.

Leonardo da Vinci: She came to tell you the truth and you fed her to the wolves.

Henry: What do you know? You build flying machines and walk on water. Yet you know nothing about life.

Leonardo da Vinci: I know that a life without love… is no life at all.

Henry: And love without trust? What of that?

Leonardo da Vinci: She’s your match, Henry.

Henry: I am but a servant to my crown and I have made my decision. I will not yield!

Leonardo da Vinci: Then you don’t deserve her.

Keeping ya in the mood:
This one will only take a moment or two (or three).

Nicest Thing - Kate Nash
Basically, I wish that you loved me.

Gilbert - I hope he breaks your heart.ANNE OF AVONLEA

Gilbert: …. There’s someone else, isn’t there?

Anne: No, Gil, honestly there isn’t. I don’t care for anyone in that way. And I like you more than anybody.

Gilbert: Anne, I’ll wait. Even if I thought you cared just a little.

Anne: I do care, Gil. I always have. But I can never, never love you in the way you want me to. I’m happy as I am; I won’t ever marry.

Gilbert: You’ll marry, alright. Some fool who will sit and read Tennyson by firelight, no doubt. Build you your castles in the sky. I know you.

Anne: Please, Gil, I don’t mean to hurt you. But you’ll see I’m right by and by when you fall for someone else.

Gilbert: You haven’t hurt me, really. It’s just that I fooled myself into thinking that you loved me, that’s all.

Anne: Gil, please.

Gilbert: I hope he breaks your heart, whoever he is…. Then maybe you’ll come to your senses.

Another moody song for your listening pleasure:
This one might lull you to sleep, but listen to it anyway. 🙂

Into Dust - Mazzy Star
I could feel myself turning colder.

Robert Leaves FrancescaBRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY

Robert: Tell me why you’re not coming with me.

Francesca: No matter how I keep turning it around in my mind — it doesn’t seem like the right thing.

Robert: For who?

Francesca: Robert, please. You don’t understand. No one does. When a woman makes the choice to marry, to have children, in one way her life begins but in another way it stops. You build a life of details. You become a mother, a wife and you stop and stay steady so that your children can move. And when they leave they take your life of details with them. And then you’re expected to move again only you don’t remember what moves you because no one has asked in so long. Not even yourself. You never in your life think that love like this can happen to you.

Robert: But now that you have it…

Francesca: I want to keep it forever. I want to love you the way I do now the rest of my life. Don’t you understand… we’ll lose it if we leave. I can’t make an entire life disappear to start a new one. All I can do is try to hold onto to both. Help me. Help me not lose loving you.

Robert: Don’t leave me. Don’t leave me alone. Please.

Is all of this too sappy for ya? Yeah, I figured.  😉

There are more songs and scenes running through my mind, of course, but I don’t want to give too much away….

Enjoy your day!
